VFX Miles Morales

For our VFX course, we had to create a video from start to finish, integrating it into an existing universe.

A friend and I had recently seen the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and were huge fans. That's why we chose that universe for our project.

The video was filmed by two of us, but the final result you see below was done solely by me.

My role :

My role :

My initial role was to act; I played the protagonist of the film. I was also in charge of filming the other scenes, the ones where I wasn't seen.

Then I created the 3D environments (the hangar with the exploding machine), inserted myself into these environments, and added the film's specific graphic elements.

Next, I designed the villain's costume, including the patches that serve as portals, and everything else until the end. I also handled the sound design and the music.

The challenge :

This project pushed me to new heights in my use of After Effects; I discovered effects I never even knew existed.

The most challenging aspect was creating the animated portals the protagonist uses. I also learned how to better integrate live-action footage into a 3D environment.

We used a Sony A7III for filming, and we had green screens available. The villain's outfit was just a white painter's overall bought at the corner store.

Finally, for post-production, I only used my desktop computer.
